Happy Day Everybody!
On a normal day, I get to work early and spend a little time reading blogs piled up on my google reader (love google reader!). Every once in a while I’ll see someone else’s blog mentioned under the “recommended resources” that grabs my attention. This morning I saw “Healthy Tipping Point” and thought I’d give it a look-see. Caitlin’s blog literally oozes positivity, which is great considering my previous realizations. After a little bit of exploring on her blog, I saw Operation Beautiful mentioned. Operation Beautiful? What’s that? *click* and off I went to check it out.
What a wonderful concept! I’ve left very few random notes to strangers over the years. Most of them have been just to say thank you…thank you for your service (Disabled Veteran’s license plate on the car, so I left the note on their window)…thank you for great service (on a restaurant receipt), well you get the point. The whole point of Operation Beautiful is to leave notes of inspiration behind for other women to find, letting them know they are beautiful just how they are. It’s an effort to stamp out negative self talk, or “fat talk”. I don’t know that I’d leave notes very often, but every once in a while…yes, probably. Leaving a note like that behind might bring a smile to someone else’s face but it will also give you a boost as well. Who doesn’t need that?!
I also came across their article “How to Look on the Bright Side.” It gives some great pointers for becoming a more positive person. The one that hits home the most for me is:
Ignore Negative Noise and Energy Vampires. Energy vampires suck away your positive energy and you feel exhausted after dealing with them. Negative noise are small actions that distract you, stop you from being productive, and threaten to ruin your day. Most urgently, negative noise threatens to overwhelm all the positive encouragement in your life.
I need to keep this at the forefront of my mind. This morning I got out to open the gate on our driveway when I noticed someone had driven over our driveway (perpendicular to how a car is supposed to drive on a driveway) which tore up the side because we have milled asphalt and it’s soft on the sides. It must have been a heavy truck because it tore up the ground next to my driveway too. My first thought is “jerk…can’t anyone respect other people’s property?”…but I was able to reign it in and changed that to “He must have been tired and the roads are dark. I’m sure it wasn’t intentional.” See? Negative noise be gone! Slowly but surely I will get a handle on things and become a more positive person.

i am glad you enjoyed the blogs!
